tranSMART is a data integration, sharing, and analysis platform for clinical and translational research.

BBMRI-NL’s tranSMART service
tranSMART enables users to search, view, and analyze data through a web interface, thereby allowing easy access to explore such data from multiple domains at study level. As a knowledge management platform, it enables scientists to develop and refine research hypotheses by investigating correlations between genetic and phenotypic data and assessing their analytical results in the context of other data sets.

tranSMART was initially developed by Johnson & Johnson, and released as an open source project in 2012. It has since successfully been deployed in a number of large pharma companies, such as Janssen, Sanofi and Pfizer, and is further developed in various publicly funded and public-private consortia, such as IMI eTRIKS, IMI EMIF, IMI Translocation and CTMM-TraIT.
